How a Desk Job Affects Your Health
From welltory
Scientists have found out that ergonomic office desks and chairs combined with the right posture help to improve overall health, boost productivity and increase concentration.
The lack of physical activity and a poorly organized workspace can impact your health if you mostly sit at your desk all day. A sedentary lifestyle increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Sitting in the same position for too long can also leave you feeling tired, cause you to lose concentration, and make it harder to get things done. It can also cause back, neck, and shoulder pain, stiffness in wrists and fingers, headaches, and vision problems.
To minimize your job’s impact on your health, follow these guidelines:
Shift your sitting posture often — our bodies were made for movement.
Get up every 30-60 minutes, and move around. Do some stretches, or take a short walk around the office.
If possible, try to do some of your tasks standing up.
