What is Physiotherapy?

Often referred to as “physio” or “physical therapy”, a Physiotherapist works with people with decreased mobility and pain caused by injuries or disease to help them improve range of motion and reduce pain.

What kind of treatments are used in physiotherapy?

Once assessed a Physiotherapist will prescribe a treatment plan that takes into account your general health, activities and lifestyle. Treatments can include:

• Exercise programs designed to strengthen muscles and improve mobility
• Joint mobilizations to reduce stiffness and pain, and to improve range of motion
• Muscle education to improve control and prevent further or reoccurring injury
• Soft tissue massage
• Advice on Mobility aids such as crutches or canes
• Acupuncture
• Electrotherapy - including ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and laser therapy.

Conner Goudy

Connor Goudy, Physiotherapist

Connor holds a bachelor of Physical and Health Education and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University (2020). Connor spent two years with the Queen’s Men’s Volleyball team as a Student Athletic Therapist, an experience that confirmed his passion for athletics and rehabilitation. Beyond sports injuries, he enjoys treating a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions throughout the lifespan.

Haley Flewwelling, Physiotherapist

Note: Haley is currently on maternity leave.

Haley Flewwelling graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, combined honors in psychology and biology in 2014, and completed her Masters degree in physiotherapy in 2016. Haley’s goal as a practitioner is to incorporate continued learning and skills, along with a team based approach to provide holistic, quality care.
