Getting Back Into a Routine

We know, we know it’s still summer until September 22. But, with school starting up again and other signs of pumpkin spice popping up people are starting to get back into a more regular routine.

Did you know that having a routine can greatly improve your health? Here are some ways a routine can help (from Northwestern Medicine):

  • Routines can reduce stress levels and lead to improved mental health, more time to relax ,and less anxiety.

  • Those who follow a routine sleep better and feel refreshed and ready for the day. Your bedtime habits affect your mental sharpness, performance, emotional well-being, and energy level. Try to maintain a consistent time for waking and going to bed.

  • A little extra planning can result in better health! Set the alarm a little earlier to get in a workout and or have a healthy breakfast. Pack a good lunch and plan to go for a walk during lunch. Whatever type of movement you prefer, it’s important to make time for exercise.

So, as the new season approaches get your sweaters ready, set your intentions, create your routine, and don’t forget to book your appointment at Beech Street Health Centre!
